There’s been some tweaks and updates to Squid’s website (thank you Rihards!) to get it ready for its fifth year(!) the main visible one is updating my socials.
Twitter/X
I’ve locked and shut down Squid’s Twitter account. (And my personal account.)
Twitter had already become a dumpster fire for queer and marginalised people and I had not been actively updating it — but seeing just how unhinged its owner truly is has made the decision to move away quite easy.
Meta (Facebook, Instagram & Threads)
Given the announcements in regards to permitting abuse of trans and queer people it’s been tempting to drop these entirely too. But there’s large community on these spaces so I’m holding off shutting them for now, if things start to slide downhill these will go too.
Dr Kim Foale recently posted about the dilemma and potential solutions to trans and queer communities being trapped on Meta if you’re curious.
New accounts
So what have I replaced them with? I’d been using Linktree for a while anyway, but have been using it for personal projects such as Fruit Salad more and more. It’s a useful tool and given the ever changing landscape of social media channels it’s a good way to gather things.
Bluesky — I’ve not been terribly active on this but it does seem the less evil option currently so I’m intending to use this more.
Queer Design Club — I joined this back in 2020 during the pandemic lock downs and it was a breath of fresh air to realise how many queer designers and creatives there are in the world. They’ve recently updated their directory so I’ve updated my profile here too.

Hope folks are doing as well as can be given — pick a thing!
